- Sunlight: full sun
- Description: This is an upright, spreading, loose and open, multi-stemmed shrub. It often grows wider than tall. In the spring it is covered with rich, purple foliage, and in mid- summer large plumes of feathery flowers appear. These smokey-purple panicles form a dense veil of blooms giving the appearance of a cloud of smoke, that lasts from mid-July to October. This tree makes a striking specimen tree, or can be used as an accent plant. It thrives in the Carolinas and does well with minimal care.
- Size: 9'-10' tall.
